Since 2012, CCE has provided funding to the NBCC Foundation totaling more than $190,500 in awards to assist counselors and others in helping professions to obtain CCE credentials and to support and increase their ongoing professional development and continuing education opportunities. The first of these scholarships was for a master’s-level counseling student pursuing the Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF), CCE’s flagship credential.
“CCE is proud to partner with NBCCF each year for the opportunity to award CCE training awards to deserving candidates who have demonstrated excellence in their fields and are dedicated to serving underprivileged and underserved communities,” says Tammi Lee, Vice President of Business Services and Partnerships.
CCE scholarships provide financial assistance for individuals interested in earning one of CCE’s credentials, the Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), Board Certified Coach (BCC), Board-Certified TeleMental Health Provider (BC-TMH), or the domestic Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF). International GCDF credential holders can apply for scholarships to assist with the costs of continuing education.
Michella Rahming, MBA, NCC, BC-TMH, LPC, a mental health and substance abuse counselor in Huntsville, Alabama, is a recent award recipient.
“After winning the BC-TMH training award, I felt a sense of accomplishment,” Rahming says. “This milestone is another notch in my therapy competence. Clinicians challenge their clients to assertively display self-advocacy. If you are reading this, then you should apply. Perhaps you may be the next award winner!”
Erik Messinger, PhD, NCC, ACS, LCMHC, an assistant professor of psychology and counseling at Hood College, received the CCE Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) award in 2022 and has since earned the credential.
“The ACS certification has really strengthened my skills and abilities as a professor who teaches a practicum or internship section each semester in our master’s program,” Dr. Messinger says. “I also supervise master’s-level students in our counseling clinic and this credential has provided me with some great tips and resources to effectively supervise counselors in training.”
More than 50 awards ranging from $500 to $3,000 are available to help cover the cost of training and obtaining the credential. The deadline to apply is Aug. 31, 2024.
